We all have our own personal reasons for choosing weight loss surgery, and our own personal struggles that are unique to us. But that doesn’t mean that we have to take the journey alone.
It’s been nearly 7 years now since I’ve had my surgery, and if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that the path to a happier, healthier you has its ups and downs, its high points and moments of doubt, its triumphs and bumps in the road.
Over the course of my journey, I’ve worked with my bariatric surgeon, nutritionists, psychologists, fitness instructors, and other health and wellness professionals, and met many who have had the procedure themselves. All of them helped me answer questions, overcome challenges, and understand feelings I never thought I’d have. And the more I dealt with issues ranging from changing my eating habits to picking out a whole new wardrobe, the more I realized there was nothing out there that really took a comprehensive approach.
One morning I woke up and realized I was creating the road map I’d been missing – the one that would guide me successfully through my transformation. I was living the plan, and I had to share it. And that’s why I started this site – because the bariatric wellness journey is about much more than diet and exercise – it’s also about things like confidence, self-esteem, and mental, emotional and social wellbeing. It’s about knowing that weight loss surgery is not some magical cure – but that with a little hard work and dedication, it can be the start of a brand new you. So here’s finding health, happiness and harmony on your bariatric wellness journey.
